Do Black People Have Drier Hair?

In general yes. However not everyone is the same.

1 of the 3 main purposes of “Afro”/”coiled” hair is to retain moisture.

A young Michael Jackson with his natural hair wet:

Like a sponge the coils in the hair curl around and can catch water droplets. This is very beneficial in the hot African sun. If you are wet or sweating you would want that moisture to stay in your hair as long as possible.

Straight hair is better suited for colder environments. The Davy Crocket jacket is designed to dry faster. The individual beads of water travel down the tassels thus drying the coat quicker:

Straight hair does the same thing. Hair clumps together forming long clumps of hair where drops of water fall off thus drying he hair quicker. This would be a disadvantage in Africa.
