How to Get Flawless Korean Glass Skin

In ancient Greece, women used olives to make a moisturizer to put on their skin. Skincare has come a long way since then, but moisturizers still play a very important role in skin health these days.

A makeup artist took Instagram and Twitter by storm a couple of years ago when she detailed her extensive skincare routine, a routine which was given the name "Korean Glass Skin.”

So what is “Korean Glass Skin”

Lustrous, glossy and translucent are all words used to describe the effects “Korean glass skin” routine can have on your skin. “Your skin is as soft as a baby,” is a compliment women aspire to hear about their skin.

Popular with women in Korea, this skincare routine has been adopted by women across all regions and cultures especially in the west.

The “glass skin” beauty routine promise to leave skin so clean and flawless that it looks glassy, this result is achieved by routinely scrubbing away dead skin cells with a variety of steps while at the same time keeping the skin as hydrated as possible.

Korean Glass Skin Care Routine

1. Remove Makeup

This skincare routine is often done at night after a long day at work. While most skincare routines seem like a chore, this multi-step skincare routine will feel like a visit to the spa.

By the end of the routine, you'll feel refreshed and revitalized, all the grime and stress from the workday wiped clean. It begins by removing your makeup with makeup remover and cotton pads.

2. Double Cleanse

Now that your makeup has been removed and your skin is dry. Cleaning your face with two different skin cleansers may seem redundant, but you would be surprised how much residue is still left on your face.

For this first face Cleanse, you should keep your skin dry and use a cleanser that removes excess oil.

3. Double Cleanse - Part 2

While the first cleanser is used to get rid of oil-based debris, the foam cleanser is meant to get rid of sweat, dirt and other pollutants that end up on your face throughout the day that clog your pores.

For the second part of the double cleanse, you want your face to be wet.  The cleanser for this step should be a foamy, soapy cleanser. Remember to rinse and towel dry your face after using the foam cleanser.

4. Exfoliate

Now that you’ve removed the oil and grime, you want to clean your pores and remove the dead skin from your face by using an exfoliating product.

If you have sensitive skin, you can do this step only once or twice a week. even if you have tougher skin, you don’t have to do this every day. Once every two days will suffice.

5. Toner

Many women skip this step, thinking that all the toners in the market are alcohol-based, which dry out your skin and goes against the goal of the skincare routine.

After the first four steps, your skin will be in urgent need of hydration. The toner will help prepare the skin for the moisturizing steps that will follow.

6. Apply an Essence

Essences are lightweight, slightly watery mixtures of toners and serums. This step is an essential part of Korean skincare that women around the world have started adopting to their skincare routine.

Look for essence that has glycerin, which helps pull atmospheric water into your skin.

7. Moisturize

Eery skincare routines involve moisturizing the skin.  This "Glass Skin" routine strips your skin of moisture and then replenishes the hydration necessary for the shiny, youthful look.

If you have pigmentation or brown spots, you may want to add an additional step here, by using serums or other Moisturizers for smoother skin.

8. Face Mask

For this step, you can opt to use a face mask cream or a sheet mask. The sheet masks come pre-soaked with the nutrients your skin need.

Face masks are a common addition to almost all the beauty routines I know of.  they are the simplest way to give your tired skin the necessary nutrients it needs. However, you only need to use face masks once or twice a week rather not daily.

9. Wear Sunscreen

Regardless of what your skin type is or how good your skin routine is,  wearing sunscreen is something everyone should do, even in winter.

Sunscreen is the best defense against brown spots, wrinkles, Some Sunscreens even offer moisturizing benefits.

Conclusion

While many skincare routines are quick and easy, the Korean “glass skin” routine can feel like a lot of work but it's worth it, but after spending a long day of walking through all the unseen pollutions.

The "Korean glass skin routine" can make you Instagram ready without even needing filters!
